Portuguese internet unsafe E-mail
News - Latest
Security surrounding Portuguese internet access seems to be lacking, according to the results of two years of data analysis. Portugal has a negative classification. The research, carried out by the Pedro Nunes Institute and the Faculty of Science and Technology at Coimbra University, led by Francisco Rente, was based on a quantative scale of four degrees – acceptable, dangerous, very dangerous and chaotic – with Portuguese internet access being classed as dangerous. More than three and a half million e-mail addresses in Portugal were checked and 11.000 domains ending in .pt. It was concluded that 30.000, of 17 different types, were vulnerable to attack. The study also revealed that one in five state computers is vulnerable to noxious software and other types of information attacks. But, one positive: the Portuguese network is protected against attacks by the Russian Business Network, one of the world’s most dangerous organisations connected with cybercrime.
